IMPORTANT
The selection of a personal injury lawyer may be very important to the resolution of your case. In a small
state like NH finding attorneys who only practice one area of law can de difficult, but personal injury law is
an exception. When seeking a personal injury attorney, we recommend that you try finding
someone belonging to professional associations beyond the Bar, organizations like American Association for Justice.
In most cases NH Personal Injury Lawyers will offer free consultations. If you think your case is complicated,
or has a high dollar value, perhaps talking to two or three personal injury lawyers would be wise before
selecting one. Feel free to ask questions. Most NH Personal Injury Lawyers only defend either plaintiffs
or defendants. You should make sure your prospective attorney only handles 'your side' of the aisle.
In most situations, if your prospective personal injury attorney feels you have a good case, (s)he will
take the case on a "contingency" basis. This means that the lawyer will be paid based based
on a percentage of what you may collect on a settlement. Twenty-five to forty percent (25%-40%) is common.
Also, keep in mind that in most cases, fees charged by Personal Injury Lawyers are negotiable. Your attorney
runs a business - it just happens to be a law office. Whatever thier fee quote, feel free to make
a counter offer. If done tactfully, NH Lawyers rarely object. Be careful though,
the cheapest lawyer isn't always the best.
